About George Ward

George WardAn enduring presence in American nature photography for over twenty years, George Ward's images have been widely featured in national publications, including many appearances in the Audubon Society and Sierra Club calendars and note cards. Magazine credits include Sierra, Newsweek, Outside, Backpacker, Outdoor Photographer, Nature's Best, Smithsonian and Sunset. His work has also appeared in numerous books showcasing the natural history of the West, and his art prints are part of many private and corporate collections.

Created mostly with a 4x5 view camera and to a lesser extent with a dslr, George's photographs showcase untamed regions of big country and quiet beauty. His intention is to stylistically, but faithfully, interpret the wonder of the natural world. His first memories of nature in art trace back to childhood and the astonishing work of John James Audubon. These early influences inform his creative process today as he strives to convey the energy and sense of renewal that contact with wild places bring.
